Karpenisi
Many cultural and religious events are held at the Karpenisi area. Those keep their local color and attract many visitors. The Christmas and the Carnival festivals at the last Carnival Sunday and Monday, the celebrations for Easter and the Summer Wood and Folk Celebrations in July and August are the most noted.
You have to taste the delicious "mezedes" from local meat, the traditional prosciutto, the local dairy products (cheeses, butter, yoghurt, and the local soft cheese "tsalafouti" or "katiki", and the chylopita and trachana pasta). For dessert, you can choose between the spoon sweets, our fresh berries, wild-cherries, and chestnuts. Do not forget to savor our local alcohol drink "mouro".
Ski Center
You can visit the ski center for skiing or snow boarding, or simply to enjoy the view from the top of the Tymphristos Mountain.
There is plenty to do at the Karpenisi Ski Center which will leave no-one untouched, either skiers nor the area visitors.
At 1840 m above sea levels, at Velouchi, in "Diavolotopos" location of Tymphristos Mountain operates the Ski Center, which has a long open season and good snow quality.
There are 12 ski runs, with variable difficulty levels, which are suitable for the novice and the experienced skiers. Hercules 1 is the top for the most experienced ones.
After prior aggreement, the ski center allows you a night run, which is one of the most exciting experiences.
Many off-routes are interesting and the center has a baby-lift for the training skiers and the athlete preparation, and seven lifts can carry 5150 persons per hour.
There is a ski school in the ski center, there are also two shops to buy or rent your equipment, a chalet with a bar, open bars at the ski runs and internet accessibility to get informed anytime about the weather.
You can rent scooters. A ride in those will remain unforgetable!
